wrong side of the lake?

I intellectually understand when people say that Cleveland gets a lot of snow because we're on the wrong side of the lake. Not as much snow as Buffalo mind you, or Ashtabula, where ever that is, but still a lot of snow. I get it. The wind comes in from the west, flies across an unfrozen lake, hits land and snow appears, as if by magic. I'm a transplant, but for you native Ohioans, did you ever wonder where that wind comes from? Michigan -- I've been watching the weather channel. But I digress.
If there is a wrong side of the lake, does that mean there is a right side of the lake? And if there is a right side of the lake, does that mean there is no snow there? Maybe just palm trees and 80 degree temperatures? Maybe just people with giant fans blowing air across Lake Erie because they have a sense of humor? Boy am I glad the Cleveland Garden show is in 10 days.

Actually, you are on the right side of the Lake. That means you get lots of wonderful snow to protect your garden all winter long. (Isn't that great?) Yes, after a lifetime of living in the Chicago area, I have finally come to appreciate snow. It's a good thing.
BTW - I look forward to meeting you in Buffalo this summer.

Jim, that is us Canadians(living on the right side of the lake) with a wicked sense of humour. Why keep the weather here, when we can blow it over to you, lol.

Jim if you ever find the right side of the lake let me know.LOL. Hey, take a bunch of pictures at the flower show. Something to tide us all over until the Columbus flower show.

Hi Jim,

I know next to nothing about living in the Midwest, but enjoy your humor and glimpses into your life living in Ohio. I hope you post about the flower show :-)

Sounds like you're a little stir crazy from winter, Jim. You must get some of those lovely 'flurries where winds blow onshore' even though you're ONLY on a lake (as opposed to us hardy and foolhardy types who live beside the Bay of Fundy.
I've got garden show envy, by the way.

Yikes! That looks like the Arctic! Forgive me, I am thanking God for Alabama, though my prayers will be different in August!

Hehe, my husband lived in Cleveland for a few years, and loved it. He says he'd like to move back. But then I remind him that he said he never wanted to move to Canada to be with me, because there's too much snow. So why would he want to move back to Cleveland, where you guys get more snow than I did in Alberta? lol

I love your blog, all the foliage in your garden looks so beautiful. I could learn a big lesson from that. I tend towards all flowers, no foliage, which is not the way to go lol. But I'm still learning :D
