it's like a highway out there

Friday's the only day I get home from work when it is still light. I was astonished and very happy by what I found when I went into the back yard. Not just animal tracks, but a highway. Two highways. One for the deer and one for the ducks. Is that cool or what? Pat and I always leave food for the animals and birds. We've always known that there is a deer run through the yard. We see deer on occasion. But I never relized how well traveled the deer trail is. It goes right through the hosta patch where "big blue" is and nary a nibble is found all spring and summer. The ducks seem to travel on the gravel paths I made.

You can sure tell what is hanging around with the snow cover. I went out tonight and an ugly opossum was running around. LOL! I did manage to get a shot of it in the cats food.

Hi Jim,

That is so cool to have the evidence of your wildlife coming to eat the food you laid out. We have Mallards year-round, but need to travel to mountains about 2 hours north to see any deer.

You better be careful standing out there, you may be trampled. Your dogs are really great. Bob looks like a dog we use to have, she was a collie shepherd tho. similar markings. My granddog's name is Fred. great name. I think they considered Bob. Great minds think alike.

Hi Jim - I'm sure those ducks left more behind than just their webprints in the snow lol.

How great to share your garden with wildlife. I think deer are the most graceful animals, but i know a lot of gardeners have problems with them eating their plants. I'm glad they haven't eaten your hosta!
