Blotanical Rocks

I didn’t realize how much I enjoyed Blotanical and all of the wonderful gardeners who call it home until one day it didn’t work. I felt like a 6 year old whose best friend just moved away. I was lost. Now some of it was my own doing. I didn’t keep up with my followings on Blogger or keeping up my blog list. I grew lazy because it’s always more fun to read posts and marvel at the wonderful pictures than do blog maintenance.
Well, I am a persistent person and still found ways of keeping in touch with Blotanists. Jodi at Bloomingwriter, Tatyana at MySecretGarden and Jean at Jean’s Garden all had great work-a-rounds. Thank you everyone who had any information in their posts.
The calamity that was Blotanical's temporary hiatus showed how much of a community we are. Gardeners from all over the world helped each other out. I attempted to pick new gardeners' posts to let them know that there were friends out there itching to see their blogs. What was funny and gratifying, at the same time, was that there were others doing the same thing.
The reason I’m writing this is because after less than optimal experiences with brick and mortar garden clubs, I feel welcome and at home in Blotanical where everyone who shares a love for plants is welcome. I wanted to make my thank you to Stewart in public for all the blogosphere to see. Thanks Stewart for keeping Blotanical up and running and making it a welcoming place to hang out in.
Blotanical Rocks!

I was lost too. I never kept up my blog list. I resorted to going on to other peoples blog, and seeing who was on their list. Took a lot of time. I hope Blotanical never goes down again.

Jim, Thanks for posting this. When I read Stuart's news item today on Blotanical, I felt so bad for him. Like most, I assumed that this had been a planned event and wondered why he didn't warn us ahead of time. Learning that it was unplanned and that he had almost no advance warning made me want to give him a big virtual hug for working so hard to make this community work for us. -Jean

Here, here or is it hear, hear!!! Never quite sure about that.

Totally agree with you ... it's a site worthwhile keeping and supporting!

Perfectly put, Jim. :) I'm glad it's up and running so it's easier for me to keep up with all my favorite gardening blogs, including yours. :)

This is indeed a wonderful community, Jim, and has been enriched by your joining it. I think I know what you mean about less than optimal experiences with bricks and mortar garden clubs. Been there, done that, now I can avoid the hoity hort types by avoiding those kinds of blogs. I like real gardeners who talk about plants, good and bad, and love gardening for the sake of it.

I want to give Stuart a big hug across the miles, and wish there was some way we could show him our appreciation. Thank you for the link love, too, by the way! Now, if we can just find some spring....

Dear Jim, I completely endorse what you say here about the way in which Stuart has worked so hard to restore Blotanical. It needed to be publicly said and thank YOU so much for thinking about it and expressing it on behalf of us all.

Thank you too for making my weblog, and me, a 'Favourite'. It is a most kind thought and one which is very much appreciated. I am conscious of the way you have supported me from the very start. Thank you.

I too felt lost, but now am so happy that Blotanical is back. You never really appreciate what you have until it is gone, do you?

I sure missed it too Jim. Luckily I had some them on my blog and others in the google reader. Some I had to go hunt down and put them in the google reader. It sure is nice to be getting Blotanical back up and running.
