August brings ligularia flowers. The yellow orange flowers attract butterflies and bees all day long. The big black and yellow guys we took pictures of sit on the flower for what seems to be all day. The flower pods get up to five feet tall. This year is our best ever for ligularia. Last fall we dug all of the plants up and dumped sweet peat to raise the beds about a foot. That seems to keep their feet dry enough.
