furry friends?

I was reading in the sun room when movement caught my eye. I spotted a rabbit sneaking through the pachysandra. I think sneaking is the right term, because rabbits don't come to visit. These nefarious critters come to eat. Pat noticed two more rabbits on the far side of a planting area. "Oh, look, the rabbits are bouncing around. They're playing or mating." "Or eating our hosta" I said. Once again we confront the age old rabbit dichotomy. Are rabbits the cute furry creatures who lay eggs on Easter morning and people love? Or are they the scourge of every gardener? In our house, they are both. I guess it depends on what they are eating. I need to eat more oranges because I need the peels.

Hi Jim, Rabbits are the most fun to study when you are a child. Their teeth keep growing even if they whittle them down on your bushes and trees. They are timid and stand like a statue if you approach them, they stomp their back feet to warn other rabbits of danger, and they have very strong hind legs.

Rabbits do not drink water, they lick the dew off of plants. They are the prey of most other animals.

See what happens when you have taught rabbits for over thirty years!

Aw! I haven't seen a rabbit around here in years. I think the hawks, eagles and foxes have gotten them all. I wouldn't mind seeing them again, I would forgive them an occasional leaf. On the other hand, the damn deer.......... Sandy

Cute and adorable, in my opinion. Of course, I don't have a rabbit problem, so I can say that.

Love the photos :) I don't have to worry about them eating my plants, so I can afford to sit back and go 'awwww!'

As cute as they are, I'm sure glad I don't have them in the garden. I did have two little bunnies as a kid (I also got a horse and 2 ducks and a goat, a ferret and 2 lab mice as pets) my parents seemed to not mind at all my propensity for animals.

Well, they are awfully cute, but appearances can be deceiving, can't they?

I think my opinions on the humble rabbit have previously been noted.

Best with mustard...

I think they look cute too. As a kid, I learnt that white colour = rabbit and brown or grey = hare :)
