Tulip cam

The tulips that Katie and Sean brought over from Holland are popping up. Now this is a sure sign of spring. We still can't do any yardwork because the ground is still too cold in the front yard and nearly submergered in the back yard. The boys are happy to be outside.

Signs of spring

All the snow that's left is this small piece in the back yard. It's hiding out like an honest politician in Cuyahoga County. Thing is, the snow'll be gone once the temp gets above freezing. We're stuck with the clowns that pass themselves off as politicians around here forever. But I digress.

The green in the moss stands out in the drab background of the backyard. The iris is coming up. the pach and the hydrangas are budding.

Somwhere out there is Canada

Yea, I know it's not all pretty with big waves and the sun, but it's all we got. I think I'm turning into a local because I like it.

I'm back

Oh boy was I sick. I spent Feburary fighting a sinus and lung infection. This fight occurs every year. This year it was later than usual. What made it worse was every time I coughed, my broken vertebrea hurt like hell. Well, my primary care doc said,"'how about I give you something for your cough" and my spinal doc said "how about I give you something for your back". I can't remember what I said after I took both meds.

That's why Pat drove to the Akron garden show. It's the end of February and mother nature's been teasing us with occasional warm weather where the snow all melts and shows us the yard. Two days in the 40's and I want to rake the yard and just do stuff. Pat, on the other hand, being the ever present voice of reason, reminds me that my back is still broke and I'll regret it once the meds wear off. Well the next best thing is a garden show. Especially one that has lawn ornamentation vendors. We weren't dissapointed. We found a metal tree and all is good in the gardening world. Oh, and we got to see Ed Begley, Jr. talking about easy ways to go green.

And how could I pass a historical marker? This one's not about George Washington. It's about the big rubber strike in '36.
By the way, winter reared its ugly head again. It's about 15 out.

Bob the Dog

He just wants to hang out with anyone who'll throw his towel across the room.

Snow Day

The snow just keeps on coming. The temperature rarely gets above freezing so it keeps piling up. A nice side effect of the snow is that it looks pretty after each snowfall. Luckly, Jimmy's been home for a couple of days, so he's been a lot of help. Fred won't go outside till the driveway's been cleared and then it's still a struggle. Pat likes to talk him out, I just drag him. Bob loves the snow; something in his doggie DNA tells him that he belongs in the snow.

This is as far as Fred goes. You have to drag him out of the garage. He really hates snow. You can't blame him. The snow's higher than he is.

Do you think that Al Gore shovels snow?

So how much snow can this deck hold, and what is Bob looking at?

Springtime in America

I wanted to write something about how happy I am that Bush is finally gone to live in delusional retirement. Maybe Christopher Hitchens'll write a book called "The Trial of Dick Cheney." We survived Dick Nixon and he was really evil, not just stupid, so surviving Bush shouldn't be too hard. Well, that just takes away from the joy of the event.

So let's sit back and revel in the peaceful change of power once again.

I'm back

My camera came back from repair today and I took the full dose of my pain pills, so why not go out into the back yard. We're having an Al Gore kind of winter in Cleveland this year. Or is it , where is Al Gore when you need him? Well whatever the case is, we haven't been above freezing for 2 or 3 weeks. The back yard has about a foot and a half of snow in it. Fred doesn't even want to go outside. Bob likes the snow, but gets bogged down because it's so deep.
Pat and I have the greatest neighbors you could ask for. They've cleared our driveway since I hurt my back by falling through the ceiling.
