tulips

It's perfect work in the yard weather. It's in the 50's and the sun is out. We are in the yard clean-up and let's move plants around mode. I still have time to take pics to share. Katie and Sean picked these SilverStream tulips up from the Amsterdam Tulip Museum. They have leaves that echo the leaves of some of our hosta. Their blooms are very cool looking , but alas, they last only a couple weeks. Bummer. They are up against the house. With the new beds in the front yard, they are moving in the fall. Well, back out into the yard.

Awesome tulips. Did a lot of garden chores also this weekend. ...going back to work tomorrow to rest up.

Wow, your close-ups show what stunning flowers these are. It's a shame they don't last long, but perhaps they are more special because they are so ephemeral.

Beautiful tulips Jim, they're such a lovely color. With our deer and gophers, we dare not even try to grow tulips, except perhaps in pots.

What a beautiful picture of a tulip. The color pigments are almost to perfect to be real. Just lovely. Is spring not just the best time of year.

I love the coloration of your tulips. Even though they may only last a few weeks, they are worth it, I think :-)

I'm in the same mode you are. Beautiful tulips. Post some more! Did you actually bring them back from Holland? Barbara

Oh my, they are quite gorgeous. I just saw some leaves like that on some other tulips at the Skagit Tulip Fest, but not such beautiful blooms. I read that tulips planted in the shade hold their blooms longer, but I don't know myself about that.

Wow, Jim great shots of those beautiful tulips. It is a shame that tulips do not last longer.I am trying to find species tulips that come back every year. Most of the regular tulips are annuals and only bloom for a couple of years. Such a shame too. Yours is such a pretty one,I hope you will enjoy those blooms for many years.
